It’s no wonder that the international ice-climbing federation has chosen the ice tower in Rabenstein near Moos in Passeier for the upcoming world championship. On the one hand, the facilities with a new multipurpose building belong to the biggest and most difficult ones throughout Europe.
On the other hand, the winter temperatures are mostly perfect for ice-climbing. In addition, over the past years, the valley north of Meran has established its reputation as a venue for ice-climbing events – at the latest with the World Cup in 2013.
Ice-climbers – ready, steady, go!
About 150 ice-climbers from 25 nations will participate in the Ice Climbing World Championship from 27 to 29 January 2017 – among them many stars of this ice-cold kind of winter sport.
During the competitions in the discipline "Lead" (difficulty climbing), the competitors will give anything to emerge victorious – and guarantee tension and action!
