Avec une surface d'eau d'environ 44 ha, le lac d'Antholz est le troisième plus grand lac de montagne du Tyrol du Sud et, en raison de sa situation magnifique, une destination d'excursion très appréciée des habitants et des visiteurs.
Depuis quelques années, un sentier didactique extrêmement informatif d'une durée d'environ une heure et demie fait le tour du lac et les différentes stations expliquent la géologie de l'environnement du Rieserferner ainsi que les particularités de sa flore et de sa faune.
En hiver, il est possible d'explorer l'extrémité de la vallée d'Anterselva sur une piste de ski de fond qui fait le tour du lac et, si la glace est suffisamment épaisse, le longe également. Juste à côté se trouve également le grand centre de biathlon d'Anterselva, connu loin à la ronde, qui a déjà accueilli plusieurs épreuves de la Coupe du monde et des championnats du monde. Situés à environ 1600 mètres d'altitude, le lac d'Anterselva et le centre de biathlon sont le spot le plus élevé pour ce sport.
